BMI Honors ‘Red Headed Stranger’
To look at a timeline of Willie Nelson’s career is quite extraordinary. From his humble beginnings as a songwriter in the 1950’s to the uber-successful outlaw years, we have seen an artist that is just important to the canon of music as Mozart or Bach was. Come on folks, He wrote the song “Crazy.” This song is the most played song on any jukebox in the world. No kidding. So it is no surprise that BMI is going to honor Willie Nelson with it’s BMI Icon Award on November 6 at it’s music row offices. This award has been bestowed to past artists, such as, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Bill Anderson, Charlie Daniels, and Loretta Lynn.
