Johnny Cash Would Be Proud

Johnny Cash, pretty much set the precedent to how a concept album should sould and look like. Also artists, such as, Merle Haggard(The Tribute to Jimmie Rodgers album) and Willie Nelson(The Songs of Cindy Walker, etc) have contributed to the genre as well. I am happy to inform you that concept albums have not gone the way of the Do Do. Kathy Mattea will be releasing her tribute to Coal Mining Songs, Coal. Her inspiration comes from her parents living in a mining camp, and it doesn’t hurt that her grandparents were miners themselves. It will be released on April 1st. Costarring on the album, will be the likes of, Marty Stuart, Patty Loveless, Stuart Duncan, Tim and Molly O’Brien, and Byron House. I think Mattea is one of the most underrated artists out there.
