Getting Back on Track
The Carter Family is the quintessential disfunctional family of country music. Their history is drenched in divorce and substance abuse. Carlene Carter has endured this first hand. Her history of drug abuse and failed relationships have been widely reported. She says that her lifestyle led to a mediocre outlook to her music. She left every show feeling jaded and unenthusiasic. Fortunately, her drive for music is back and refueled. She has signed with indie label, Yep Roc, and has released, rightly so, “Stronger.” I can remember the first time I heard Ms. Carter. “Every Little Thing,” had a great hook and tight background vocals. Let’s hope that her career will be on the upswing in an ever changing business.
