The Oaks To Sing For Congress
I grew up listening to the Oak Ridge Boys. Popping their eight tracks in the old buick, was one of the highlights of our family trips. The Oaks are little bit more popular today. You could say that they are feeling presidential. They will be performing for congress at their annual barbecue today. The Oaks are presenting President Bush with a cowboy hat and crocodile boots with the Oak Ridge Boys logo. This is not the first time that they have sang for the president. They have sang for Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Alright this is how close the Oak Ridge Boys are to my heart. I am going to tell you all, an embarassing story. When I was five years old, we went to visit my grandparents for the weekend. On Sunday morning we arrived at church. Before services began, I was duped by my brother to get on stage and sing Elvira in front of the whole congregation. What part of the song did I sing, you might ask? “Oom papa mow mow.” To this day, I still get heckled by little old ladys that were there.
