Musicians Hall of Fame Announces Nominees
Vocoder extraordinaire Peter Frampton and country legend George Jones listed the various nominees for the Musicians Hall of Fame. Renowned country producer Billy Sherrill has been nominated. He was the mastermind behind some great songs: Tammy Wynette’s “Standy By Your Man,” Jones’ “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” and Charlie Rich’s “Behind Closed Doors.” Sherrill is the first producer to be nominated. THe other nominees were more obscure rock and r&b artists. Should a producer be nominated. I understand there is a delicate art form to producing; picking the songs, vocal coaching, mixing, etc, but I am not sure that Sherrill belongs in this setting. The Country Music Hall of Fame, yes, the Musicians Hall of Fame, not so much.
