What was Stonewall Jackson smoking that gave him the impression that the Opry was only going to cater to younger audiences? Two years ago, Jackson stated that the production manager of the Opry was overheard saying that he did not want to see any grey hair on stage. I think that Stonewall took him out of context. I recently saw an Opry performance, and it was filled with Classic Country Artists. Now the Opry is going one step further by setting aside Thursdays as Classic Country nights. The slot will not only consist of classic country artists, but it will also feature younger artists performing the classic songs that made country music famous. However, it will not take place on every Thursday. It will be scheduled similarly to that of the Tuesday night slots.
