And the Winner is…
The CMA results are in so let’s see if I made the right predictions from one of my previous blogs. Well for the most part my predictions were right, with the exception of Single of the Year. Here’s a rundown of my predictions and how they lined up with the results.
Top Female Vocalist: I said Carrie Underwood and she took it home.
Top Male Vocalist: I said Brad Paisley and he took it home.
Top Vocal Duo: I said Sugarland and they took it home.
Top Vocal Group of the Year: I said Rascal Flatts, and they took it home again this year. That makes six years in a row…
Top Music Video of the Year: I said Brad Paisley and of course he took it home with “Waitin’ on a Woman.”
Top Song of the Year: I said it would either be “Stay” by Sugarland, or “Good Time” Alan Jackson…and Sugarland took it home with “Stay”
Top Album of the Year: I said George Strait because he took it home last year as well. And to no surprise he took it home again this year.
Top Music Event of the Year: I didn’t make a prediction on this one, but Allison Kraus took it home. This award was for her tour with Robert Plant, “Gone, Gone, Gone”.
Top Single of the Year: I said I wanted Miranda Lambert “Gunpower and Lead” to take it home. But George Strait took it home with “I Saw God Today.”
Horizon/New Artist of the Year: I said Lady Antebellum would take it home, and to no surprise they did.
And the last award is of course Entertainer of the Year: Last year Kenny Chesney took it home and again this year he took it home.
Other things that happened on last nights show included a performance by Kid Rock. Brad Paisley and Keith Urban opened the show with a performance together and Kenny Chesney, Kellie Pickler, Carrie Underwood, George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, and Alan Jackson all performed later on in the show. Miley Cyrus felt like a normal teenager around her dad Billy Ray Cyrus. Miley was almost speechless, which I think is really funny. Carrie Underwood changed her outfit six different times during the show, her and Brad Paisley were hosting last night. Reese Witherspoon was also in attendance last night, she’s one of my favorite actresses just as a little side note. Jerry Reed was also honored in last nights award’s ceremonies.
Anyway there is your recap for all of those who missed the 42nd CMA Awards last night here in Music City.
