Kenny Chesney Is To Hack as Willie Nelson is to Timeless

When it comes to being overrated, Kenny Chesney takes the cake. The first time I ever heard,”She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy,” I thought to myself, “You know what, I don’t think I am going to be a Kenny Chesney fan.” So how did the Hack of all Hacks get the opportunity to produce Willie Nelson’s next album, which is due out January 29th. Now I am pretty sure that “Chutney” just told Willie, that sounds good, and hid his head so he couldn’t look at the legend face to face. The talent piercing from his eyes would have exposed Kenny’s ineptness. O.k., I was a little harsh on Kenny. Can anybody tell me what is the appeal of this 5 foot nothing mediocre country singer.

P.S. How did Kenny ever convince Renee Zellweger to marry him. Did He slip her a Micky?

It should be pointed out that “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” was far from his first hit; the song was released in 1999, about four years after he had his first hit. I enjoy his singing; as far as his appeal, I can’t really put a finger on it. Maybe it is just the joy of enjoying mindless, banal music once in awhile, without a care in the world for quality. And he does come out with a really great song once in awhile, such as “Don’t Blink” (live now, enjoy the experience and learn what you can, because the years pass by quickly); the video with the 102-year-old man adds the perfect touch, IMO. But to be fair to you, Todd, “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” is NOT my favorite Kenny Chesney song, and there has certainly been far worse material released.

P.S. as for the Renee Zellweger remark, you’d have to ask Ms. Zellweger or Kenny Chesney. As for Willie’s upcoming album, I’ll wait until it comes out to comment. Willie must have saw that Kenny had talent in producing albums, otherwise he wouldn’t have even approached him. Let’s give Kenny and Willie the benefit of the doubt, shall we?

You nailed it!! I thought I was the only one who thought Kenny Chesney is perhaps the most overrated singer on the scene today. It boggles the mind how he has become a “star”. Thanks for being bold enough to say what needs to be said. Chesney caught the Lucky Train years ago and must have had blackmail info on the record company — because he stayed on the scene with one record after another despite being mostly void of talent and charisma.

Sure, he can strum a rhythm guitar and manage to stay in tune when he sings. Do you know HOW MANY people can do that? He’s no better than hundreds of singers who do okay in their home areas and will never get a record deal.

Chesney being “producer” on a Willie Nelson recording (?!!??!?!)

That’s blasphemous. A Pretender working with A Legend.
