The virtuosic Skaggs never ceases to amaze the professionals or the amateurs with his ability to make music. His material is generally solo work, but his next project is going to be kept ‘All in the Family.’ Ricky is releasing his new project, with his band Kentucky Thunder, Salt of the Earth. Ricky’s wife Sharon White, his sister-in-law Cheryl White, and father-in-law Buck White (family members who make up the band the Whites), will be joining him on every track. Skaggs said he has been looking for the chance to make an album with his wife and in laws for a very long time. Skaggs also says that this album will not be entirely bluegrass. The album will not only have country influence but there are celtic nuances to the album as well. The cd will be out on Sept 25th.

It is amazing to hear Ricky play and sing. Not only is his bluegrass material top notch, but his earlier country albums are fantastic. “Highway 40 Blues,” and “I’m Just a Country Boy” are still just great songs. What is your favorite Ricky Skaggs song. Is it a bluegrass or a country song.
