Taylor Swift, Love Story?

So the other day on the radio I heard Taylor Swift’s new song “Love Story.” Did I like it? Well, not so much… I guess the reason is that the song itself has a great concept, but it does not fit Taylor in the least. She is only 18, and she is singing a song about finding her true love and settleing down? I say, right… I don’t think so. Here she is in the rising of her career and she’s going to settle down? Again, I don’t think so.
I also have grievences about the video. The video is great. But she’s singing about Romeo and Juliet, and the costumes are all wrong. Great video as far as acting, effects, and editing go, but I’m not digging it for Taylor. Also, the song in general is not something she would normally sing. It’s great if she is trying to “expand” as an artist, but I think the crowd that normally listens to her likes the style that Taylor has affected in the past.
Don’t get me wrong, as I am a songwriter myself – I do admire Taylor’s writing abilities, as well as her ability to captivate the younger country music audience. But this song in general is not working for her. Maybe she should pump up the tempo or have another artist sing it; either way, right now it’s not working for Taylor Swift.
