Leona Atkins passed away today at her home in Nashville, she was 85 years old. Leona was no stranger to the stage herself. She and her sister Lois Johnson consisted of the “The Johnson Twins” and performed on WLW-AM, which is where she met the legendary guitarist. They were married in 1946. Here is a small tidbit for you. Lois Johnson went on to marry Kenneth “Jethro” Burns. Yes that Jethro, from Homer and Jethro.
Where in Nashville did Leona live? Was it the home that she and Chet shared for years? Just curious.
There are a lot of nice homes in Nashville, and I am sure that Chet and his wife had one of those. I just picture a 50’s style ranch house with a large lot and nice trees–like a lot of the homes on Franklin Road. Minnie Pearl, Tammy Wynette, and Hank Williams all had beutiful homes on Franklin Road in Nashville. I would not be surprised if Chet and his wife lived in the area also.
