David Lee Murphy Is Still Around?

That little ole wine drinker David Lee Murphy is still cranking out mediocrity by the handfuls. His latest creation is the #1 hit that he co-wrote with Jimmy Collins. You all know it, Jason Aldean’s “Big Green Tractor.” It has currently dethroned Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me.” I thought we were wise to Murphy after he gave us “Dust on the Bottle.” However, I have realized that this is Nashville, and there is no room for true artistry. We have let it get to a point where it can’t be fixed. Songwriting has been reduced to a marketing campaign. Nashville has turned into” sloganville.” There are only a handful of artists that truly revealing themselves through their music. Country singer/songwriters are a dying breed. Songs are meant to be an outpouring of the artist. It has been turned into writing a hit for the sake of a hit. David Lee Murphy has realized this. His teammate Collins is known for another tractor song, “She Thinks My Tractor Sexy.”
