That’s right you have officially heard it here, Elvis Presley is releasing a Christmas album this year. After passing away nearly thirty-one years ago, the King of Rock and Roll is releasing a CD for the holidays. The project is entitled, “Elvis Presley: Christmas Duets.” And it will feature several country artists of today’s world. These artists include: Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Wynonna Judd, Sara Evans, Gretchen Wilson, Little Big Town, Anne Murray, and Olivia Newton-John. This is going to be, in my opinion, a wonderful CD and I know I will be purchasing a copy.
Everyone knows that Elvis was the King of Rock and Roll and everyone probably knows the majority of his story…but let’s recap just for the fun of it. January 8, 1935, Elvis was born to his parents in Mississippi. In 1948, when Elvis was thirteen, he and his parents moved to Memphis, TN. In 1954 he began his recording with Sun Records. Just one year later his contract was sold to RCA Records, and it was thanks to this event that in 1956 Elvis was at the top of almost every chart in the United States. Not only were his swingin’ hips, amazing-dreamy voice, good looks and songs making it big, but Elvis starred in thirty-three successful films. Elvis and his music would change the music world forever.
Elvis has sold more records than any other recording artist to date. Selling over one billion records he still remains at the top as far as his money making skills. Elvis made himself a house hold name, and even today all you have to do is say his name and everyone knows who you are talking about. I’m not talking about just in the United States, I am talking about globally. Everyone knows who Elvis Presley is.
