The music business is as cutthroat as they come. If you are seeking to make it in this business, you will found out quickly that you will have to sacrifice your time, money, and probably your firstborn. Bleve Records might witness this first hand. They are going to find out if the bull’s horns are as sharp as they look. Capitol records has issued a cease and desist order against the release of “My First Ride.” This single is on the upcoming Bleve project, which hopes to raise funds specifically for emergency response. What is really exciting is that this is a duet by Ronnie Milsap and Trace Adkins. The single is actually doing moderately well, radio wants to play it, and the charts seem to like it. There is a small problem. Capitol says that they never gave Bleve the OK to release this single. Mickey Milam, the company’s CEO, said that not only did Trace Adkins management approved of the single’s release, but Capitol knew of the song’s existence. This looks like a classic he said, she said scenario. However, Bleve Records probably will not have the caliber of legal representation that Capitol will produce, come court time. Because let’s face it, Capitol will take this to court. To them it will be just business, no matter how noble the cause might be. When this is all over, ambulances might be powered by horse and buggy.
