I guess who ever came up with the saying ‘third time’s a charm’ didn’t know Mac McAnally. The Alabama native has had reasonable success. Unfortunately, it has been reduced to a footnote to make room for those who have made it commercially. For the ones  that are familiar with Mac,  you are already aware of his tremendous talent. His songwriting and production ability were the catalysts for that great Sawyer Brown album The Dirt Road. He penned the number one hit “Thank God For You” and the emotional ballad “All These Years.” No one can take away from his songwriting success, but his solo work has never come to fruition. He didn’t have his own #1 until he recently dueted with Kenny Chesney on the redo of  “Lucky Old Sun,” in which Mac cut back in 1990. He has bounced from label to label(7 to be exact) from 1977 till now, but has never found one he could call home. Will he be a permanent fixture for Toby Keith’s Label Show Dog Nashville. He has recently signed with the Ford Truck Man’s record label. Toby is excited about McAnally being a part of the Show Dog Nashville Family. He stated that, “There’s nobody more respected, at least when it comes to musicians and people who really know this business, than Mac McAnally.” Toby has every right to say this. You name the person, and Mac has worked with them.  However,  a songwriter is a stranger in his own hometown, but maybe his songs can find a home.
