Molly Bee Dead

Substance abuse and Country Music go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly. Faron Young’s best friend was Jack Daniels. Cocaine blew Waylon and George’s mind. We all thought that their love was written in stone, but just like Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett, all terrible things must come to an end. Sure Faron blew his brains out and Waylon walked with a limp, but at least they got closure.
However, are female country artists immune to drugs and alcohol? My answer is, no. Though it has been kind of hush-hush. Apparently, Patsy Cline drank like a fish. Lynn “DUI” Anderson likes to toss a few back, and little ol’ Molly Bee just loved her some drugs. Molly was no stranger to a cavalier lifestyle. Molly was no Aunt Bee, as she was married 5 times. Her career was not stellar, but still notable. She is that voice you hear every year on the very famous Christmas song, “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.” She was a regular on the Rex Allen radio show at the tender age of 13 years old. Molly had three memorable hits with “5 points of a Star,” “Young Romance,” and “Don’t Look Back.” Her lifestyle caught up with her. She succumbed due to complications from a stroke. Sorry about the irreverance. I just wanted to keep it needle-in-arm.
