Jimmy Dean Receives Award
Country Music has always been a respecter of persons. They dote on some and then spit on the face of others. It seems that Jimmy Dean has always been the latter until now. Last night, Jimmy Dean was given the Heritage Award at the Carriage House Music Series at Nashville’s Belle Meade Plantation. Bill Anderson, who was the honoree last year, presented the award saying, “The country music industry owes him more than the industry has given him.” This is such a poignant statement. Jimmy might not be a Hank Williams or a Waylon Jennings, but his hits such as “Big Bad John” and “PT 109,” are timeless. Of course Jimmy Dean has always been successful person to whatever he has set mind to. Everyone has heard of Jimmy Dean Sausage, but he also had a successful book 30 Years of Sausage, 50 Years of Ham, and he is planning a new one. So I think everybody can relate to Jimmy Dean’s life and music. His music has blue collar written all over it, and he has shown that determination is the key ingredient for success.
Jimmy Dean is LONG overdue recognition…. he is from the “real country music” era, not this so called country of today!

The old adage, “you don’t miss your water till the well goes dry”, certainly is true with COUNTRY MUSIC today. My friends, the well is almost dryf, with all the REAL country artist leaving us almost daily and very, very few of the ‘new comers’ can put on their shoes, never mind wearing them!
